Location: Hospital (Private Room)

Eichi: Right then, it's been decided. I have a few reservations about it, but let's consider this the final conclusion.

If we don't start moving soon, we'll only invite obstacles to the development of our story...

The hand of the clock continues to move. If we don't let go of something when it's in a good position, the train of reality will take off without us.

I'll no longer simply gaze from afar at the story unfolding outside the hospital room window. Let us begin, Keito: this tale to be woven by you and I.

Tsumugi: Did you call for me, Eichi-kun~? [1]

Eichi: I didn't exactly call for you. ...You sure come to visit me often, Tsumugi.

I believe your house is pretty far from here. Transportation here isn't cheap, you know?

Tsumugi: Ah, but I'm your friend, Eichi-kun!

We'll be working in the same unit together from now on, so I just thought maybe I'd visit you as much as I can and get to know you~♪

Eichi: We're not really some happy friendship club or anything, though... But I'm glad you feel that way, Tsumugi. If possible, let's stay friends for many years.

Tsumugi: Of course! We'll aaalways be friends, Eichi-ku~n☆

Eichi: Yeah. For as long as you're useful to me, we'll aaalways be friends ♪

Tsumugi: Huh, did you just say something rather scary!?

Eichi: You just imagined it. More importantly, did you do what I asked you to do?

Sorry, my condition got worse and I ended up in the hospital again, so... I can't really act by myself.

It seems I got too excited about being discharged, and it only backfired on me. Ugh, it's so frustrating, especially when the real plans are only just starting.

Tsumugi: Ahaha, you poor thing. I'm at fault too, though. Even though I was around, I didn't notice your condition.

They did say it was just a checkup, right? You'll be back in no time.

And besides, I'll do whatever you'd like to in your stead.

For now, about what you'd asked... I've gathered up members for fine, the unit we formed.

I've filled out the paperwork too, so would you like to take a look?

Eichi: Of course. Let me see.

...Hmmm. The quality of Yumenosaki's idols has gone down as a whole, so we'll have to make do.

It seems like for now, we'll just have to disguise the quality with quantity.

Mmm. Backgammon... I think it's gone back to being Chess now. I wonder if we could use anyone in that unit.

I thought there might be a lucky find in there, but as far as I could see from the documents, none of them look useful. Plus if I try to pull out anyone in his circle, Tsukinaga-kun might start to hate me.

Hm... Let's secure these ones over here.

I'll do the inviting and negotiation. I'll use every method I have to solidly win them over. Our strategy is clear right now, and it wouldn't be too regrettable if we have to cut it away in the middle.

Let's put these two on hold, perhaps. I want them for their firepower, but they might be hard to handle.

Tsumugi: Which two? Ahh, Nagisa-kun and Hiyori-kun...?

I have a connection with Nagisa-kun, so I could probably hit him up.

As for Hiyori-kun—could you already be acquainted with him, Eichi-kun? He seems rather well-off.

Eichi: He's quite a big deal in the financial world. In terms of status, his family was once on par with mine.

...And because of that, there's some antagonism between our families, you see. To be honest, I don't really want to get involved with him.

Personally, he's not really the type I get along with, either. We have the same sort of revulsion to each other, so if I look at him wrong, it feels like I'll be looking right at myself. I can't stand it.

However, I do acknowledge his talent. It would be a considerable advantage if we could get ahold of it, so maybe I'll just try reaching out to him...

I don't think he'd listen to anything I say, though.

But oh well, let's save that for later. At the moment, we don't have to gather up these difficult characters; we should be fine if we draw in the people we have at hand and move forward effectively.

More importantly, I would like to think about the Five Oddballs. I've finally confirmed the lineup.

Tsumugi: Ohh, our plans are finally coming together. It took a fair amount of time by itself~ We couldn't decide on a fifth person for so long.

Eichi: Yes. The first three suggestions, Rei Sakuma, Kanata Shinkai, and Wataru Hibiki...

Adding onto that Valkyrie's Shu Itsuki, and finally the first year Natsume Sakasaki, we have all five. I suppose.

Tsumugi: Oh, Natsume-cha... Natsume-kun is really going to be an oddball, huh.

Eichi: It was a tough decision, you know~ But when you consider it in terms of influence, there's no one else but him.

There are plenty of other ones who I can sense talent from, but they're not quite there yet.

Of the current first years, Sakasaki-kun is the only one who can stand with the other oddballs without being overshadowed by them.

It feels like only a process of elimination, so I'm still not entirely sure, but he will be the last of the Five Oddballs.

Tsumugi: I see~ I want to go tell Natsume-kun as soon as I can.

He's been chosen as one of the five idols that will be supported and cheered on by the whole school. It's something to celebrate.

Eichi: Hm? Ahh, right, that's what it was on the surface...

You've helped me quite a bit. Perhaps I should slowly reveal the real plans to you soon.

Tsumugi: Huh? Is this some kind of evil scheme... Eichi-kun?

Eichi: Fufu. Whether evil or righteous, the historians of the future will decide that for us. I don't want my name recorded as some miserable antagonist, so we must win.

Let's do our best, Tsumugi. We will close the curtains on the old era, and begin a new story.

Tsumugi: Fufu. I don't really understand, but please rest well first... Rather than the far future, I'm worried about your condition in the present, Eichi-kun.

Eichi: How mundane of you, Tsumugi.

Tsumugi: More than 99% of this world is made of mundane things.

That under 1% of shining treasures is important, but I think it's a bit sad to discard everything else.

Eichi: So we have a difference in opinion. That's why you're such an advantage. It wouldn't be as effective having a bunch of yesmen...

If you ever think of anything, I'd like you to say it without hesitation.

Tsumugi: Okay! Leave it to me~ I'm a boy who can't read the situation, after all...☆

Eichi: That's not something to be proud of though, Tsumugi?

[1] The verb Eichi originally uses is 紡ぐ (to weave or spin something), which is pronounced as "tsumugu" and meant to be a pun on Tsumugi's name.
