Next Door - Open World 7
Season: Summer

[Next Door Stage]
(A few hours later, just before the anomalous Judgment—provisionally named "Next Door")

Tsukasa: ......
Leo: Wahaha! So you have come, Knights elites! My flowers of the battlefield, who race across it like a crack of thunder!
You have indeed earned the knightly title—no one else is worthy to play the lead part in my grand opera!
Ritsu: ......
Arashi: ......
Leo: Oh? Looks like you don't wanna listen to me? Aw come on, Naru, Rittsu! Don't just grab my arms and legs and carry me away!
This is why people keep saying kidnapping is Knights' specialty! Didn't you spend a whole year trying to get rid of that bad rep?!
Anyway! If you're not gonna let me have my say, then whatever!
This stage was prepared in a mad rush, so get out here and sing at least one song for the audience! Then you can leave!
Ritsu: Speaking of which, what even is this show about, Tsukipi~? When did all this get set up?
Leo: Dunno! I wasn't the one who set it up, anyway!
Tsumugi: Fufu, this venue was originally booked and prepared for our performance as Switch.
So right now, it sort of feels like Knights decided to barge in on the spur of the moment.
Tsukasa: Ah, Aoba-senpai. Greetings. ...If that's the case, then wouldn't that mean ever the more that we shouldn't be here? Are we not a hindrance to you?
Tsumugi: Oh no, of course not. Just announcing that Knights would be appearing as a guest performer brought all these people here to watch, so…
If anything, we'd be in a tight spot if you did leave.
Natsume: Hmph. Knights is abnormally good at attracting an audience, but I wonder what exactly is so good about you.
Tsukasa: Heh, are you picking a fight with us, Sakasaki-senpai? I do sense some aggression in your words, but jealousy is rather unbecoming, you know.
Tsumugi: Ahaha, sorry about that. Natsume-kun's a little irritable now… He's dealing with a lot, you see, like his regrets and remorse concerning Sora-kun.
By the way, though I did say that this performance, Next Door, was meant for Switch—
I was considering not having Natsume-kun join us if he wasn't free to, since he seemed to have his hands full with his conquest of Yumenosaki.
It seemed he was a little displeased with that, though, because he felt like he was being left out.
Well, I did intend to have Sora-kun help me out, though.
Natsume: Rather than having us "help out", are you incapable of thinking we should "work hard together"?
Why do you insist on shouldering everything on your own, despite your frail constitution?
Tsumugi: Ahaha, you've already berated me plenty for that. I reflected on my actions, which is exactly why I thought to involve Knights and change the performance details.
They're just measures taken at the eleventh hour, but it's still better than leaving things as they were.
Natsume: Yes. Whenever you end up in a predicament, you tend to switch to your "I'll bear all burdens on my own" mode, but you know, you can't keep curling up like a pill bug…
So can't you be more like a bird and seek assistance, at least from the comrades in your flock?
We might be magicians, but aside from Sora, we have no superpowers. If you don't tell us, we won't know what's going on.
Leo: Whoa, superpowers?! Sora's the kid who was tryna fly in the sky before, right? I knew he was no ordinary guy, but who knew his powers were so awesomely mysterious! Cool!
Tsukasa: ...He just sees things a little differently from the average person. Assuming it's some amazing comic book superpower is not only incorrect, it is discriminatory.
While it may be true that Harukawa-kun himself doesn't necessarily dislike the "inhuman" comments...
It isn't very elegant to assume that you can simply go ahead and say anything you please.
Leo: I know, I know. No matter how positive words may sound, they always have the potential to hurt somebody.
"Genius", "diligent", "I love you"—anything.
That's why I'm not so good at writing lyrics, but I like making melodies.
Natsume: Fufu. I wouldn't consider it a good thing to silence yourself just because your words may hurt someone though.
Just like with bladed objects and cars, if we eliminated everything that had the potential to be dangerous, society would never have become what it is today.
Humans are still far from perfect, and we are idols—performers. Wielding a dangerous knife, whipping up a delicious meal, and serving it is the duty we have been given.
If you don't want to hurt anyone, then leave the stage right this second. You can go absorb light and conduct photosynthesis in an isolated, aseptic room somewhere for all I care.
That plant-like lifestyle would never be possible for me—I've accumulated far too much malice from the previous era of conflict.
Are you not the same, dear members of Knights, famed for being splendid at fighting? ♪
Arashi: Ufufu. We really are pushing a nasty image, aren't we?
Why, just a few hours after Leo-kun announced the beginning of this Judgment, we had people flooding in to watch us live...
They might be expecting a big, dramatic fight, but I'm actually not very fond of violence.
Ritsu: Yep. I hope we can at least avoid a real fight to the death and instead put on a pro-wrestling-style show...
All of us have agreed to what's going on onstage, so it doesn't matter how much we hurt each other, but we can't allow that pain to affect things offstage.
If you hurt people, then it becomes your destiny to get chased away like a monster.
Leo: Wahaha! No need to worry!
It might be tough to do that by ourselves, but this time, we've got the magicians on our side, who can turn the mundane into the fantastical!
Tsumugi: Yes. I was a little troubled when Tsukinaga-kun suddenly approached me to discuss this, but...
Knights' Judgment this time will have us of Switch overseeing and intervening to ensure it all ends peacefully.
Actually, I happen to be quite good at managing this sort of thing.
After all, since ES was established and I took on the position of NewDi's vice-president, it sort of feels like that's all I've been doing. I've gained lots of experience.
Leo: Yep, we can safely leave it in Oba-chan's hands! He won't let it turn sour!
And in exchange for crashing the performance and pushing that responsibility on him, we'll stand onstage for free and entertain all these guests we brought here!
It's give-and-take! Pretty good for an improvised live, huh?
