Leo: ♪~♪~♪
Wahaha! How's that? I've gotten pretty good at playing now! I'm more used to digital stuff, but instruments are interesting too~♪
Ahh, weaving together sounds is what makes me feel most alive!
Eichi: I'm glad you're enjoying yourself... Tsukinaga-kun, right? It was worth breaking my back over it too. I made the right choice having my servants carry a piano over here.
Leo: Wahaha! I'm the one who's broken something, though! Ahh, it's frustrating only being able to play with one hand! Can't I heal faster~?
Though apparently I heal fast enough to surprise the doctor.
But even so, they were saying it'll take at least a few weeks to fully recover... Until then, I'll have to deal with this nuisance.
Ahh it's so annoying! I got what I deserved, but it's stressing me out! Piano is played with your whole body, so just missing one hand messes up the sound!
Eichi: That piano is a personal possession of another patient here... So treat it with care, okay? I'd rather you not vent your stress by hammering on the keys.
Fufu. This private room is soundproof, however, so we don't have to worry about disturbing the other patients.
I'd set aside this private room with state-of-the-art medical equipment for whenever my condition worsens.
I'm glad it's coming in handy. I suppose it makes a good present for you, my new friend.
Leo: Oh, when did we become friends? Not that I mind, let's get along.♪
Eichi: Alright. Anyway... How about I substitute for your other hand?
The piano's owner I mentioned taught me a bit, so I can sort of play.
Let's play a four-hand piece together. Of course, only if you don't mind ♪
Leo: As if I would! Come on, let's play and enjoy weaving melodies together.♪
Eichi: Okay. ...By the way, Tsukinaga-kun, what's that song you've been playing? I've heard it before, but I don't recall the title?
Leo: It's "Killer's Anthem".
Eichi: Oh, from "Drunken Angel", huh? I like Akira Kurosawa too. He wastes nothing in his compositions. [1]
Leo: Wahaha! Oh yeah, you're Tenshouin, so if you shorten your name it's Tenshi! Can I call you Tenshi? [2]
Eichi: Huh? I don't mind, though having a nickname's new for me...
But as a high school boy, being called a name as pretty as Tenshi does feel a bit embarrassing.
I might end up giving you a strange nickname too, you know...?
Leo: Huh~? But Shu told me! That in the Bible, God and angels murder way more than even demons do!
They're not as lovely as everyone thinks they are, you see.
Eichi: Shu? Do you perhaps mean Valkyrie's... Shu Itsuki-kun? That's surprising, you're familiar with some fairly important people, huh?
Leo: Yeah, that's him! He's the only one who can ever discuss art with me! It always ends with us arguing in circles, though~ But we talk a lot!
Sometimes, I even ask him to design costumes for our lives!
I know another guy who'll make costumes for cheap, so I ask him to sew enough for everyone!
Pretty smart, right~? Fufu, I'm good at getting by!♪

Eichi: ......
Leo: ...Tenshi? Hey, what's wrong? You're not looking too good, are you feeling sick?
W-Wait there! I'll go get a doctor!
Eichi: ...I'm fine. I just feel a bit dizzy from getting too excited.
I'd rather you not call a doctor, or else I'll end up spending more time in the hospital again. It seems you hate hospitals too, so you should understand how I feel.
I don't want to spend another second trapped inside this "sterile prison".

Leo: ......
Eichi: Fufu. I've been in poor health since I was born, so I've spent most of my life in the hospital. That's why I long for the world outside.
I want to bring an end to this life of longing for the blue sky beyond the window. I'm working hard for that purpose. I'll even make impossible lies, saying I'm fine, I'm healthy.
Because if I don't, I won't even be able to breathe in the outside world.
I would just be brought back to the hospital, unable to take even a single step forward, unable to enjoy a single thing that everyone else does.
I am just so sick of it... Tsukinaga-kun.
Leo: I see. Mm, I understand. You're a boy, of course you want to be strong.
Eichi: Yeah. ...I do want to be strong.
Leo: Okay. Then, I'll go along with your "impossible lie" too.
I understand how you feel, so I won't call a doctor. I'll just believe you're in perfectly good health.
I won't put you down by saying you're sick or weak. I promise.
But it really does look painful, so at least let me take care of you. I'll get some water, so go rest on that bed.
I suck at everything but composing, but I can do this much. When my sister got sick, I looked after her the whole time.
So just leave it to me. It's not something shameful, and I'm not making light of you.
It's because I believe we can be comrades. We feel the same way, so we should be able to join hands.
Fufu. Get well and come back quickly to play a duet with me, okay♪
Eichi: You mean "Killer's Anthem"? Yes, that sounds like fun...♪

[1] Akira Kurosawa was one of the most famous movie directors to come out of Japan and one of the most influential in all of cinematic history. "Drunken Angel" was a film about yakuza produced in 1948. A sample of "Killer's Anthem" can be heard here or here.
