[1-B Classroom]

Sora: Haha~♪ HiHi~♪ HuHu~♪

Hehe~♪ Done with day duty! Good work! [1]

HoHo~♪ What now? Switch is off today, so maybe Sora will go to game club and start a new winter release...

Huh?

Tsukasa: ……

Sora: …Um, Tsuka-chaaan?

It’s time to close up the classroom, so if you don’t have a reason to stay here, Sora’d like you to leave, okay~?

Sora’s on day duty, and he can’t go home if you don’t, you know~?

Tsukasa: ……

Sora: Tsuka-chan! You should answer when you’re talked to!

Tsukasa: …Wah? Huh? Oh, sorry, Harukawa-kun, were you talking to me just now?

Sora: Affirmative! Umm, if you didn’t hear then maybe Sora should say the same thing again? Umm, Sora is on day duty, you know~?

Tsukasa: Ahh okay, I guessed as much… I’m sorry, I’ll take my leave immediately.

Sora: Umm, you don’t have to hurry, okay~? Sora isn’t in any rush!

Tsukasa: I see. But lately, thanks to that newly-established “S3” or something, there have been more Dream Festi… uhh...

...More DreamFes lives than ever before, correct?

Every unit I see is so busy, and yet Switch is off today?

Sora: Mm, we’re off, but it’s like, more lives means there’s a mixed bag? Or something like that…

Shisho~ was saying that we should be careful which ones we choose to be in.

Tsukasa: That’s the right decision. Time is limited, and there is no meaning to getting troubled and tired out by something trivial.

One would prefer to aim carefully, and pursue only actions that are deeply meaningful.

But despite all that, my seniors, with Leader at their head, are surprisingly capricious, or perhaps they are easily amused…

Ever since the S3 live was newly established, all we’ve taken on are strange jobs.

Just the other day, I was made to participate in that peculiar “Mystery Stage” event.

Sora: Ahh, that looked fun, you know~? Detectives and phantom thieves in a battle of wits, it’s just like a game!

Sora wants to play around like that too~♪

Tsukasa: It was work. You shouldn’t go at it with play half in mind, Harukawa-kun.

…Oh dear. I apologize, I ended up dragging on this talk.

It is a bad habit of mine. I tend to become too focused on what’s in front of me and neglect consideration for others.

Sora: Tsuka-chan, you’re pretty considerate, you know~? You’re so mature, Sora is jealous!

Tsukasa: T-Thank you.

As the youngest member of Knights, I am often treated like a child, so I am very happy to be thought of as mature.

Sora: That’s stiff! High school first years are usually kids, though?

Tsukasa: Once you finish compulsory education, you are the same as an adult. At least, it is a family principle of ours to be aware of that in our words and actions. [2]

After all, in ancient times, those around our age would already be undergoing genpuku.

Sora: Genpuku? Pukupuku? Sora doesn't know that word!

Tsukasa: It’s like coming of age. Ahh… speaking of which, it’s around that time for the coming-of-age ceremony. [3]

Haa…

Sora: ? Why did you sigh? All your fortune will fly away, you know~?

Tsukasa: Ah, it’s just… I have a few worries surrounding “coming of age”.

Lately, every single time I remember them, I end up sighing.

Even now as I was lost in thought, the school day already ended… How foolish, for someone like me. I don’t like it.

Fufu. It was rude of me to sigh during our conversation. I apologize.

Sora: Sora doesn’t mind, but… Tsuka-chan, are you worried about something? You don’t seem like it, you know~?

No matter what happens, your “color” never changes, huh~…?

Tsukasa: ? Harukawa-kun, it’s not that important, but could you not call me “Tsuka-chan”?

I have a splendid name, Tsukasa Suou, which I have received from my parents.

Haa… Though if it goes on like this, I won’t be able to assert that so proudly anymore.

Sora: Another sigh! Sora doesn’t like sighs! If it’s cloudy you can’t see the stars, you know~?

Tsukasa: Ahh, I am sorry… No matter how many times I’m told off, I still repeat the same mistake over and over. Am I really so hard-headed?

Sora: Tsuka-chan, you have strict rules set for yourself, you know~?

No matter what you’re told, those don’t bend. Maybe that’s why your “color” doesn’t change?

Tsukasa: Mm, what is that “color” you speak of…?

Sora: It’s hard to explain, you know~? It seems like only Sora can see them!

It’s fine if you only kinda get it~ “Kinda” is magic I learned from my senpai!

Sora feels like maybe it won’t be so suffocating if Tsuka-chan learns the “kinda” magic too, you know~? HaHiHuHeHo~♪

Tsukasa: …?

[1] "Day duty" (日直 - nicchoku) is a system at Japanese high schools where each student in a class rotates the duties of cleaning up the classroom, and closing all the windows and doors and such at the end of the day. I'm not sure what other countries use this system, but it's fairly common even in workplaces in Japan.

[2] High school is not compulsory education in Japan.

[3] Genpuku (元服) was a traditional rite of passage widely done in the Nara Period (A.D. 710-794) and involved a change of clothes, hairstyle, name, and the taking of new adult responsibilities. "Coming-of-age ceremony" or (成人式 - seijinshiki) is a rite of passage performed in modern Japan on "Coming-of-age Day" (成人の日 seijin no hi), on the second Monday of January. People who have turned 20 in the past year will celebrate their entrance into adulthood on this day. Needless to say, Fortune Live is based off of this holiday.
