Season: Spring

T/N: The title of the gacha, "The Devil's Castle", is (probably) a reference to the French silent movie "Le Manoir du Diable" (1896), often considered the world's first vampire movie.
T/N 2: The "Sakuma family ritual" was a concept introduced in the UNDEAD Easter story, and it involves drinking the blood of another person once a year.
---
Rei: …I have nothing to say for myself.
No, rather, because I have betrayed you once, nothing I say will convince you.
It will only end up with you cutting down everything I say, assuming it all to be lies.
However – believe what you want, but remember this one thing.
I wish for this never to repeat again…
I wish to never err again, never lose anything again… this is why I act this way. This is why I live this way, this is also why I carried out our family’s ritual.
If I do the family ritual now, it will calm everyone down. They will simply watch silently, not a hand or a word to meddle in my affairs.
I will demonstrate to them that the next head of the Sakuma family is still legitimate even as an idol.
Then all our relatives, who know nothing of the world, will be able to accept it without any doubts.
They may even encourage me. Family is not there to run away from, or to fight… We should be close and support each other.
So this is a tax, a necessary cost for me to continue living as I am.
Ritsu: And I’m saying I’ve got a problem with you trying to pay my share of the tax too.
Rei: Let me pay it. We’re brothers, Ritsu.
Ritsu: Who asked you? While you weren’t looking, I’ve gotten stronger too, you know?
Rei: It does not seem that way to me. You are simply tottering about, pushing yourself because you don’t want to let go of the precious things you have gained.
Being reckless is not the same as being strong.
Ritsu: I’m sick of your lectures. Don’t make me say it so many times, it’s irritating.
Tsumugi: Um~…? H-How did things get so tense when we only looked away for a moment?
Hinata: Let’s get along, yeah~? Hey, why don’t we play some games together or something?
Ritsu: No way. Come on, let’s go, Aoba-Oniichan. Talking with this filthy creature is making me sick.
Tsumugi: That’s an awful thing to say…
Mm~ I can’t just leave and pretend I didn’t see anything. May I just meddle a little bit?
Rei: If you know it’s meddlin’, then don’t go kickin’ up a fuss on the sidelines… Tsumugi.
Tsumugi: Whoa, please don’t turn on me too.
Hinata: Fufu. Hey, uh~ could I suggest something?
I was just consulting Aoba-senpai in the corner over there about this, but what about playing a silly little game?
Ritsu: Huh? A game…?
Hinata: Yes! It’s called Playing Brothers! Da-dadada!☆
The rules are simple! For a set amount of time… Sakuma-senpai will become a “little brother”, and Ritsu-senpai over there will become a “big brother”!
Fufu, you’re brothers, so of course you’d switch roles sometimes…☆
Rei: Well… You say “of course”, but you and your brother are the only ones who truly can… Hinata-kun?
Hinata: No unrefined criticism from the peanut gallery, thank you! I was thinking that changing positions might change your views and even the ways you think, maybe~ but what do you think?
Tsumugi: Fufu. It’s like an experiment. Switch often does scientific experiments, so I’m familiar with the method.
By the way, Rei-kun as a “little brother” will be paired with his “big brother” Hinata-kun, and Ritsu-kun as an “big brother” will be paired with me, his “little brother”.
Then each person will try to act like an older or younger brother. We’ll have Anzu-chan score us fairly.
Hinata: Ahaha, the transfer student looks shocked.
This isn’t the time to just look on like it’s not your business! I’ll have you participate too~♪ You’ve been on board since the start, see?
Tsumugi: Fufu. At the end, the one with the higher score wins. The loser then has to do one thing the winner says. How about that?
For example, Ritsu-kun, if you think Rei-kun is annoying and you don’t want to hear his voice anymore…
Then win, and make Rei-kun promise “I’ll never speak to you again”, or something like that.
Or if Rei-kun feels lonely that Ritsu-kun won’t talk to him, he can win and say, “I want to make up.”
What do you think? It seems wrong to leave you two be, so we decided to force ourselves in from the sidelines.
Rei: Hmm… I have no issue with it. I do appreciate a good competition.
Ritsu: Your face says you think you’re gonna win… It’s pissing me off. It’s just a pain for me, honestly, I don’t have any reason to play along.
And even if I did win and make a promise, this person would most definitely break it.
Rei: Hm. It saddens me to leave you thinking that, so… I will take the challenge. Whether I win or lose, I will keep my promise. I swear it to God.
Ritsu: You don’t even believe in God. Pain in the ass…
But well, it wouldn’t be very knight-like of me to turn tail and run at a summons for battle.
Knights are just playacting as warriors, but there is something honorable about it too.
Alright, I’ll do it… I’ll beat you black and blue, Anija.
Rei: You think you can? I hear that in those manga your beloved childhood friend reads for pleasure, there isn’t a single younger brother who surpasses his older brother.
Ritsu: The one who said that got beaten up by his little brother, though?
