Ritsu: This is just an example, but imagine there's an ES idol with the order "don't let anyone touch your head".
So every time you whack them over the head, their unit gets penalized.
If they keep losing money like that, it gets way harder for them to win through the qualifiers.
I mean, they wouldn't even have the funds to do their job. They'd be virtually eliminated.
That's how the L$ system works—no L$, no options. It's the same with SSL$ in the SS prelims.
Rinne: Yeah, and some of the local guys noticed this already. They've started goin' around taking out their ES rivals in the prelims.
Tsukasa: I imagine they want to thin out the competition.
Rinne: Hey, they mighta wanted to knock the big-headed ES idols down a peg, too.
Kickin’ down a guy who pissed you off and makin' 'em crawl at your feet? That'd make anybody feel good.
Tsukasa: Sorry, but I must add that only a handful of participants have begun to engage in such malicious behavior.
Don't think everyone operates solely on their own spite, Crazy:B.
Rinne: Guess you're right. Most people wanna do good.
We all wanna be heroes and prove how righteous and honest we are.
And y'see, that's why the ES idols started up this huge backlash against the local idols who attacked them unexpectedly.
Like, these locals are tryin' to eliminate ES idols using the leaked orders, right?
They aren't fightin' head on, idol to idol. Instead, they're playin' dirty like a bunch of lowlifes.
How cruel of them! How unforgivable! We have no choice but to exterminate these cowardly villains! We're only trying to protect ourselves! Gyahahaha! ☆
Tsukasa: ......
Rinne: ...Some ES idols out there got drunk on justice and are out to punish any local idols gettin' up to no good.
Thanks to the leaks, ES idols are forced to violate their orders and lose all their cash every time they try to do somethin'...
So my guess is they're tryin' to take out whatever's ailing them before they're totally bled dry.
In other words, instead of going for their fellow victims at ES, they're startin' up battles with the locals first.
Ritsu: Yep. Here in the Kansai region, head-to-head battles are encouraged and given more value. I heard the same thing's happening in Okinawa, too.
If you win in a battle, you get to seize all of the losers' SSL$.
And if someone else challenges you to one, you don't get to refuse.
I mean, you can refuse, but there's a rule that the moment you do, you have to fork over half of your SSL$ to the challengers.
Rinne: Win and you're drowning in riches! Lose and you die on the spot! Run and you're already half-dead ♪
Boy, isn't that just brutal? But hey, it's probably a great setup for you guys, since dueling is Knights' specialty.
Almost looks like the committee actually gave these rules to you guys as an advantage, doncha think?
Ritsu: ......
Rinne: Anyway, some ES idols have started to stamp out the locals using these rules.
They've set their sights on the ones who could potentially cause ‘em losses, and now they're launchin' their attack.
It's kill or be killed, right?
HiMERU: And therein lies our issue: the ones that ES idols are "punishing" like this are not necessarily those who have actually harmed them.
ES idols who've been attacked have fallen victim to their own fear and anxiety—they now seek to crush all local idols, including those who, in fact, have done nothing wrong.
While there is only the possibility that they might turn violent, there are some cowards out there who cannot ignore it.
Tsukasa: It is foolish behavior indeed. They are an embarrassment to their fellow idols.
Rinne: That so? Sure grew up in a nice place, didn't ya, rich boy? ♪

Tsukasa: ......
Rinne: People in a certain category committed a crime. Then, every last guy who belongs to that category starts to look like a potential criminal.
So ya take 'em all out before they can get ya first. You see it happen aaall the time in world history.
I mean, you could even say that's how most wars get started.
Tsukasa: War... War, you say?
Perhaps you are right. Now that ES idols have been attacking local idols indiscriminately, the locals who were moderate before are now revolting in self-defense.
Locals use the orders to bring about ES idols' demise. Then, the ES idols, now ruffled, proceed to make a massacre of local idols.
These terrible events occur many, many times, eventually rending an uncrossable chasm between the two groups.
The Kansai region has been reduced to a war-torn battleground, rife with merciless, bloody conflict.
