Location: Dance Room

Hiiro: Hm. Sorry, Madara...senpai, I've only just become our leader, and I'm not ready to make swift decisions yet.

Experience aside, I don't even think I'm qualified for the job. I don't yet have confidence in my choices.

Aira: Yeah, to be honest, I wouldn't want Hiro-kun going ahead and making decisions for us anyway.

We'd go home and sleep on it—if we had the time, that is. At the very least, can you give us a moment to discuss it here... please?

Madara: Of course. As I said, my schedule's empty right now. I can wait for aaall the time you need.

It's just that the Bon Festival is a week from now—the time limit's fast approaching. I sure hope you realize that as your time dwindles, so do your chances at survival.

Aira: Ugh... Well to be honest, even if the Bon Festival goes well, we'll only get just enough to cover our debts. We're still gonna be in dire straits...

God dammit, why's my life literally set on nightmare difficulty?

I chose this path myself, but still...

...So, what's the plan? I think it's a pretty juicy offer, just like the invitation to the Bon Festival was.

And like Mikejima-senpai said, other idols are fighting over the good trainers right now...

I've heard the Producer Association adjusts things to make sure it's all fair, but they won't pass the good personnel to us newbies—it costs a huge amount of money.

I'm so sick of being poor, but we really never have enough L$...

It might be really nice if someone like Mikejima-senpai could be our coach for cheap.

Hiiro: Hm. If they're low on staff, then why are they trying to fire us?

There is a saying that goes, "Need makes the old wife trot, and the old man run."

Aira: I keep saying you don't need to add extra stuff at the end of your sayings, Hiro-kun...

Everyone looks up to idols because they're grand and showy and make lots of money, but not many people wanna work behind the scenes, right?

To put it bluntly, you can be an idol if you're attractive and can hold a tune while dancing.

But every backstage job comes with its own set of special skills, and they're all quiet roles that don't get rewarded much for their efforts.

I only know this because I've been helping out the staff all this time, since I haven't been selling as an idol.

Tatsumi: Hm... It's a tragic part of human nature to yearn for ever more favorable positions.

But the ones who support society are those behind the scenes—no, all those who blend into the masses.

Hiiro: Mm. I vaguely understand it as a sudden increase in chieftains without the retainers and soldiers to support them.

That wouldn't make a country—society runs on the division of labor and the sharing of responsibilities.

Ah, so that's why we are so close to losing our jobs. They are trying to make us quit our chieftain roles and defer us to other work...

Oh no... I've started to think that firing us might be the "correct" thing to do.

Aira: Wait, don't just give up here!

Sure, the logic checks out, but I don't like how the higher-ups just decided we're "unnecessary" and forced us to follow orders.

I don't wanna quit being an idol. It's been my dream since I was little.

I love idols, I wanna be an idol, and I wanna stay as an idol—is it wrong to not want to give up on something you love?

Hiiro: ...Hm, I think that's the right idea, and I want to give you all the support I can as your friend. I still lack understanding of idols, and if I lose my job, I can't do the right thing—

I can't bring Nii-san back to our homeland, so I don't want to be fired just yet.

The city is so complicated. It's like there are all different ideas of what's right, and it's all mixing up in my head.

Aira: I'm the one getting confused by you all the time... Anyway, getting back on topic, but what are we really gonna do?

We're nowhere near protagonists of some grand epic, so having all these nice offers coming one after another is actually kinda fishy.

But we don't have the luxury to be overly cautious. I'd rather we jump at any chance we can get.

Hiiro: Mmm... But I can't seem to trust that Madara-senpai person. Though his aura is different from Tenshouin-senpai's, he smells the same—

In other words, he's not looking at us as individuals, but at the whole picture, so to speak.

I can't explain it well, but... he's like a tyrannical chief who wouldn't mind watching us all die to achieve his own goals.

I want to think it's only a misunderstanding. It could be that his bad first impression is clouding my judgment.

But I still don't like the idea of getting him involved in our inner circle.

...Tatsumi-senpai and Mayoi-senpai, you've been quiet. What do you think?

Tatsumi: Hm. I could go either way.

I'd rather make the best decision for our sake, of course. But no matter where our path leads—let us accept it as the destiny that has been planned for us.

Aira: What?! Geez, you're no help!

You have to think about it and tell us your opinion! You're the one with the most experience, Tattsun-senpai, so whatever you think is the right answer is probably right!

Tatsumi: Fufu. And I am saying that I think both employing Madara-san and not employing him could be correct answers.

I apologize for not being much help. At Reimei Academy—at CosPro, we always had an in-house producer managing us.

We only needed to act as instructed, so I'm not accustomed to making my own decisions.

(And the one time I did ignore others' wishes and chose my own path ended up in a massive tragedy...)

(Jun-san extolled me as a revolutionary, but...)

(I am no one so special. My selfish actions caused harm to people.)

Hiiro: Hm. So, that's one vote in favor (Aira), one against (me), and one neutral (Tatsumi-senpai). We are evenly split—however Mayoi-senpai votes will decide the final verdict.

Mayoi: Meee?! No, please stop this! Don't put that responsibility on me! I'm gonna have a heart attaaack!

Madara: Heeey, are you ready yet? I said I'd wait however long you need, but I wouldn't exactly call it wise to waste too much time, see?

Hiiro: It's alright. Mayoi-senpai will come up with an answer for us.

Mayoi: Eep! But why me?! Ahh, if it was going to come down to this, I would've said my opinion sooner!

Tatsumi: Fufu. They say silence is golden, but remaining quiet isn't always the correct answer. Life doesn't always go how you expect it, Mayoi-san.

Mayoi: I thought it wasn't my problem...! Mnnngh, what do I do? Nooo, don't drive me into a corner, please! I'm panicking, I'm panicking!

Hiiro: We didn't intend to drive you into a corner, sorry. I don't mind if you don't have any opinion.

In that case, you'd have a neutral vote just like Tatsumi-senpai—I'll treat it as a blank vote and take responsibility as chief to make the final decision.

Mayoi: (Mngh... Even though he's so young, Hiiro-san's really got it together. In comparison, I...)

(I'm pathetic. As one of the older members, I should be protecting, leading, and supporting the younger two like Tatsumi-san does.)

(But I'm just a burden—ahh, I'm sorry I was ever born.)
