*Editor's Note: This diary-like thing named "The Black Excerpts" was actually a bundle of loose pages bound together in random order. This is why I'm calling them "excerpts". This transcription is a version I rearranged in what I supposed would be the correct order based on a readthrough of the whole book. Even so, there were a few pages with mysterious writings on them that I couldn't place.
Among those, this page is particularly disturbing. There's a bunch of nonsense scrawled everywhere on the paper in shaky letters, as if a worm covered itself in ink and squirmed all over it.

(A few days later, in a soundproof practice room at Yumenosaki)
Arashi: Mhmm. Right. I understand.
Got it... So, Izumi-chan and Leo-kun just landed? They really flew all the way back to Japan in a huge rush to discuss "the big issue"...
That issue being those "King Slayer" people, as they call themselves—
Yeah. I'll start heading over right now. Let's meet up at our ES hangout spot.

Listen, we've got a lot going on besides all that King Slayer stuff, okay?
Maybe it was that Kuroki-kun kid himself, but somebody spread rumors that he submitted an application and might join Knights...
Other new students copied him—or I guess, they were jealous of him, because we suddenly had a whole bunch of applications coming in.
Turns out we're way more popular than we thought, huh? Hehe ♪
Yeah, I'm in the middle of interviewing everyone right now. You can't decide to take somebody in based only on what they wrote on their entry form, right?
Exactly. So I'm having a little chat with each one, and then I'm having them perform some simple singing and dancing. It's not an examination or serious job interview or anything—but it's still necessary, you know?
Don't worry. I'm recording each session with permission, so I'll send a batch of videos to you later to look at.
Nope, I haven't told them anything. You're the one who has the final say, Tsukasa-chan.
Of course, I have my own tastes and opinions. Some of the applicants left a good impression on me and some of them not so much.
But this is your Knights now. All big decisions have to pass by you, including who we allow into our circle.
There's nothing stopping you from taking your seniors' opinions into account, of course. The only thing you absolutely must avoid is letting us make the most important choices for you.
That would make you a puppet ruler. And I'm sure you didn't want to be our King just for show, right?
