Tsukasa: ……
…Pardon me…? I sincerely apologize, I’m afraid I may have misheard you?
It seems I’ve been a bit out of sorts for a while now, haven’t I? Fufu♪
I will repeat what you said, just in case. Indeed, I must repeat it.
Leader. Did you just say… I am to be the next king of Knights?
Leo: Mm? Oh, yeah! I thought your poor ears were getting as bad as Beethoven’s, but I guess there was no need to worry! Wahaha☆
So you heard me loud and clear. Good, I’m glad! I heard that these days, you can even feel music by sending waves through your bones or something, but…
Music’s really the best when you hear it with your ears, yeah?
That way, you can understand the composer’s intentions in their purest form! No matter the times, no matter the listener, it’s always a sad thing to be misunderstood!
Tsukasa: W-What are you talking about? No, um, that is not the point at hand!
Leo: Is there anything more important than music? Mm~… Well, I guess there is, depending on the person!
It’s all good! I’ve been trying to be more respectful about that lately!
I’m gonna be an adult from here on out, after all! Leo Tsukinaga shall hand the throne of the king to Suo~ and return to being an ordinary young man!
I’ll become a normal member of society, the kind you can find anywhere…☆
Izumi: …Hold on. What do you mean, an “ordinary young man”? That sounds a bit weird, y’know.
You’re not still thinking about quitting idol work or anything, right?
Leo: Mm? Is that how it sounded? Anyone around here got a working pair of ears?
Well… In this case, maybe it’s my communication skills that are at fault? Hmm…
Arashi: Well now. I know that coronations and such are very important and memorable rituals, so I didn’t want to interrupt, but…
Something seems a bit off, so could I just say one thing?
Ousama, could it be that you didn’t explain anything to Tsukasa-chan?
Leo: Huh? Explain what?! This is so confusing!
Ritsu: Let me just say something too. It looks like things have gotten complicated while I was dozing off under the cozy kotatsu—
I think Nacchan’s guess is probably right, and you didn’t explain a thing to Su~chan. I mean, he’s reacting like it just came out of the blue, right?
No matter how much of a pain it seems, you have to tell these important things to people… okay, Ousama?
Leo: Man… Just saying it in music would make things so much easier.
But I thought he didn’t even need an explanation, anyway~ I’ve always been telling Suo~ things like I’d leave Knights to him or that I want him to be my successor, after all.
And it’s not like Suo~ was ever really against it… In fact, he’d always give me a hearty “Please leave it to me!” every time, you know? So I just thought he got it.
Tsukasa: Huh? What? I do remember having exchanges like that many times before, but—
Um… I had thought you were, um, preparing me mentally? Or at least something more ambiguous. I never imagined you really meant it in that way!
Leo: Seriously? I always meant what I said…
But were you just nodding along to humor me? Don’t give me that crap! You looking down on me?!
Ritsu: Hold on just a second. You might be jumping the gun here, Ousama. I think I know what’s going on.
So, Su~chan…
You’re probably surprised by all this happening so suddenly, and it might be hard for you to accept it, coming from such a stiff, hardheaded household that hasn’t changed a bit from the past.
Tsukasa: I-I will not allow such insult to the Suou family, even from my seniors in Knights!!
Ritsu: Mm~ Well, from my standpoint, I just don’t really get why you’d devote yourself so much to an archaic family like that. It’s the 21st century, Su~chan.
But anyway, judging by your values, you probably think it’s only natural that the role of the king should be passed down according to seniority.
Tsukasa: Y-Yes! That is exactly it! Of course, I did think that… sooner or later, it’d be my turn, but…!
For someone so young like me to disregard both Narukami-senpai and Ritsu-senpai—
Ritsu: I get it. But it’s not like Ousama chose you to be the next leader out of favoritism.
After all, he’s already talked to me about it before.
And probably Nacchan too, right?
Arashi: Mmhmm. After school the other day, he came to our classroom and called us one by one into another room for a serious discussion, you know?.
We don’t know what each other’s answers were, but both Ritsu-chan and I took turns responding one-on-one to Ousama’s questions.
Ritsu: Yup. Since we’re in the same class we both saw each other going in, but I’m pretty sure we talked about the same things with him.
Tsukasa: A-And that was… who would become the next king of Knights?
Leo: Huh? Oh yeah, we talked about that too.
There were lots of other things I had to tell them before graduation—so I just combined it all together with stuff I wanted to confirm with them.
I thought I’d leave the crown to Naru at first, and then Rittsu, so I suggested it to both of them. But they both said no, you know?
Tsukasa: T-They refused? But why?
They are both perfectly capable, and if I had the right to choose, I would have cast my vote for either of them!
If we’re considering seniority, then Ritsu-senpai is the eldest. In terms of who’s best at bringing everyone together, it’s Narukami-senpai.
If either of them became the next king, I believe they would have made perfectly fine rulers.
