Hokuto: ♪~♪~♪

Subaru: ~...♪

Hokuto: ...What’s wrong, Akehoshi? You seem rather subdued. I know it’s troubling that we’re not standing out much while Knights is out in front, but…

Don’t let all the fans who support and believe in us see you looking so down.

...Or maybe it’s because this whole thing reminds you of your father?

Subaru: Ahaha. I’m not you, Hokke~. I wouldn’t be depressed because of my parents.

To be honest, if I didn’t keep a bright, shining smile on my face no matter what, my dad up in heaven would be pretty mad at me.

No, more like it would make him sad. He can never smile again himself, after all.

Hokuto: ...Don’t push yourself. If you’re having a hard time, you can go rest and leave it to us.

Subaru: Mm. I’m alright. I was surprised how much it got to me seeing all the malice in that article, though.

But today, I’ve gotten so much sparkle from everyone.

I’ll take it, increase it tenfold, and reflect it all back with a smile.

How am I doing? Hokke~, do I have a good smile on my face?

Hokuto: Yeah. It’s a bright smile fitting an idol, one that you could show anyone without shame.

Subaru: Heh, thanks. ...But still, I wonder why that article did something like that?

Who gained from this? Shouldn’t magazines be the same as idols - something people can enjoy? When that article got out, who could even smile at it?

I really don’t understand. And because I don’t understand, I feel all wiggly and grrr~

Hokuto: Don’t talk in noises. And well, blood rushes to my head surprisingly quickly, so I’m not very good at calmly analyzing situations...

But if you think backward from the results, you can get a good idea of it.

This article endangered our standing and reputation. It was a strategy to weaken us.

And if you consider how it came out right after Autumn Live, you can even guess at the culprit.

Someone must find us a threat for fighting on par with Adam and wants to get rid of us.

Most likely, some strings are being pulled behind the scenes at CosPro. I’ve heard they’re even backing that magazine company.

Subaru: ...Mnn~ Then, does that mean Bari~ really is the mastermind?

He declared war on us at Autumn Live, outright yelled it, even. ...Striking a cool figure and all with his finger pointed at us.

But still. You’d think Bari~ would do a neater job than this. I mean look, even someone as dense as Hokke~ has a vague idea who’s behind it all.

Hokuto: There’s a lot I want to say to that, but...

Considering how he acted in Autumn Live, it seems like even Saegusa can’t always do as he pleases within CosPro.

Subaru: Ahh... I don’t know how much of it was true, but he did say he couldn’t go against the agency’s will or something like that.

Maybe even Bari~ still has to fight while climbing up the CosPro ranks.

Hokuto: Most likely. It’s not a monolith, and no one can become God. A single human can’t move everything around as they like.

God is dead. Dead and gone since long ago. We’re now in a new era of instability, with nothing to depend on anymore, amongst countless images erected in pursuit of remnants of the divine.

And just like our enemy, it’s not like we’re always in solidarity either.

This time, the student council lent us a hand… and we minimized the damage to our name, but…

Looking back, the reputation of both the magazine and CosPro behind it have completely tanked.

And now that the magazine can no longer be trusted, Yumenosaki’s own online media has seen a rise in popularity.

Subaru: Yup. And they’re using that chance to sell us and Knights up there, front and center.

We’re a hot topic right now, so we might even be able to snatch up and take over the position that magazine had dominated.

Seems like Eichi-senpai might be trying to achieve something using our online media.

At the same time he’s helping us out, he’s also laying the groundwork for his own ambitions... Wow, I’m actually really impressed.

I’m sure I wouldn’t mind being in the future Eichi-senpai’s after, too. It’d be way better than being under CosPro’s influence, anyway.

Hokuto: Yeah. But even then, while I wouldn’t say the student council is the root of all evil, I don’t think that guy’s helping us out of his own good will, either.

It’s more likely that our interests just happened to be in line with his this time around.

Subaru: Fufu. So that means it wouldn’t be too smart to count on Eichi-senpai to act like some hero or guardian spirit who’ll always get us out of trouble.

We’ll have to at least do the bare minimum to protect ourselves.

Hokuto: I think so too. It’s a blessing in disguise that we managed to get away with only a few bumps and bruises this time...

Let’s reflect on this failure and keep growing stronger. The biggest thing we can take away from this is that we’re weak to media strategies. We’re too used to Yumenosaki’s form of common sense.

Subaru: Yep. Also, we learned that adults won’t really jump to protect us.

We were careless, too, though~ We gotta be more clever about how we approach adult society.

Hokuto: Yeah. And while we’re at it, maybe we should twist the student council’s arm, tell them to see this through to the end, and get them to train us up.

Let’s set strategies so the same thing doesn’t happen again.

It might be too late now, but we can try. Plus of course we’ll have Anzu with us, since it’ll mostly be information warfare from now on.

Subaru: If that’s the case, Ukki~ would be our man here.

Well, I don’t like it when I’m always getting in trouble for not having common sense either, so I'll get used to it bit by bit...

And I’ll keep growing, together with everyone.

Hokuto: Yeah, we’ll do this together. And when we’re together, we won’t lose to anyone.
