Season: Autumn

[Soundproof Practice Room]
(After school that day)
Mao: ‘Sup guys~♪
Sorry I’m late. When S1 lives come around, it always gets a bit hectic for the student council, what with preparations and clean-up and all.
Apparently the next S1, Halloween Party, is gonna be even bigger and grander than Tanabata Festival.
Subaru: No worries, I’m just glad you showed up! Waaahh, Sally… How I have longed to see your face~☆
Mao: Woah?! Come on Subaru, don’t just barrel into me! I thought I’d cough up my insides for a moment…!
Subaru: Whoops, sorry. Anyway, Sally, change into the practice outfit! Anzu said she designed it especially for that Halloween Party!
And she gave the very first ones she made to us~♪
I’m kinda super happy about that, y’know! I’m gonna wear these to bed as pajamas, too~☆
Mao: Ahaha. You’re really excited, aren’t you. Seriously, I admire how energetic you always are, Subaru.
Makoto: Fufu. Isara-kun, does that mean you’re feeling a little tired? You really gave it your all in the Autumn Live, after all~ is it all catching up to you now, maybe?
Mao: Mm… there’s that, but actually, you see, Ritsu—
Makoto: Fufu. Speaking of which, you were giving Ritsu-kun a piggyback ride again this morning, huh.
Doesn’t it put a strain on your back to do that every day? He’s pretty much the same weight as you, after all.
Mao: Mm, well… Actually, Ritsu’s been pretty good with his lifestyle habits lately. Even without me taking care of him, he’s been waking up and heading to school on his own.
Looks like he’s even been staying awake all day… Plus he’s gotten a bit more serious with attending class and doing all his work, so I’ve been pretty hands-off with him recently.
I thought that meant that maybe he doesn’t need my help anymore, or something.
But he overslept for the first time in a while this morning. I was already on my way to school, but I went out of my way to go back and pick him up at his place.
And on top of that, he seemed so listless today that I had to look after him the entire time, and since I haven’t done that in a while, I’m feeling weirdly worn out.
Makoto: Ahaha. Well, you did a good job.
Hokuto: I’m impressed, Isara… But well, from what I’m hearing, it seems like things have been going in a good direction. I feel like you probably shouldn’t be taking care of your childhood friend each and every day, twenty-four seven.
It’s part of your personality, and we love that about you too, but… you tend to devote yourself too much to others.
Subaru: Yup. Especially when it comes to that Ritsu-senpai.
Mao: “Senpai”…? He may be older, but he’s in the same year as us ‘cause he was held back, you know?
Subaru: Ahh~ Shinonon talks about him pretty often, so that’s the name I wound up remembering. It seems like Gami-san gave him a nickname before I did, and I don’t wanna use the same thing so I’m still thinking of a good one.
Mao: What the heck… Why not just use “Ritsu”? Or “Ricchan” or something. I’ve been calling him that since we were kids.
Subaru: Mm~ we’re not close enough to use “-chan”, though… Plus after facing off against each other so many times, we’re basically rivals with Knights, right?
Hokuto: Hm? But you’re overly friendly even with our enemies, aren’t you?
Subaru: Well~… Knights has a lot of people I’m not good with, though. I wonder why… I don’t really feel the same way about any other unit.
Makoto: Ahh… You don’t really get along with types like Narukami-kun, huh, Akehoshi-kun?
Mao: Ahaha. Knights got their leader back recently, though, and it seems like their aura has started to change.
If we try talking to them again, maybe you’d actually be able to get along with them.
Makoto: Leader? Ahh, there was a big fuss about it just a while ago…
Mao: Yup. The student council has to spectate every official DreamFes, so I’ve already seen the current Knights perform quite a few times.
The aura around those guys really did change - at least that’s what I felt while watching them.
They seemed a lot more distant around, say, DDD, Duel, and Starmine. These days, though, they feel a little more like us.
Hokuto: Hm. Through clashing as rivals several times, we’ve started to rub off on each other… perhaps. Or it is actually the work of that leader?
Subaru: Uhh, who was Knights’ leader again? I’d always thought it was that seaweed guy.
Mao: Nah, apparently he was just a substitute. If I remember correctly, the leader who just came back led Knights last year, too.
Hokuto: Hm. During last year’s conflict, Knights kept changing up its position and members, and it seems the leader took time off school for a while…
I don’t have any clear memories of him, but…
I feel like he was a frightening person. Like a blade that would cut you if you touched it.
Mao: Is that so? From what I’ve seen, he seems like a flashy kind of person. Plus he comes late to the stage and even misses performances, so it feels like he’s just doing whatever he likes.
He hasn’t been back at school for long, so he might not be at his best yet, though… Speaking of which, he reminds me a bit of Subaru.
Subaru: Huh, me? How?
Mao: His hair color, maybe… No, not just his looks, but like his aura, too.
Makoto: Ahaha. Isara-kun, you’ve been talking about auras this whole time.
Mao: I can’t help it, you know. You can’t explain these things until you see them in person and experience them yourself.
Hokuto: Fufu. This sounds pretty interesting. I’m starting to think I want to face off against Knights again.
Mao: We don’t have that kind of time though, honestly speaking~ Right now, we’ve got our hands completely full with our own business.
Makoto: You’re right… For now, our priority should be on giving Halloween Party our all.
