[Student Council Room]
(One week later, early morning)
Eichi: … (wordlessly dumps tea on the floor)
These tea leaves have gotten old.
Not to pretend to be some haughty aristocrat or anything, but I’m also not interested in drinking water so filthy and fermented that it’s more like blood than tea.
Yuzuru, we have some reserves in the tea club storage, so if you wouldn’t mind running an--
(Wait, agh… How embarrassing. I forgot I’m the only one here today.)
(Yuzuru and Tori are most likely groaning and moaning about their Repayment Festival plans right now.)
(And it seems like Keito is finally letting his hair down and having the time of his life out there…)
(I’ve let him be since I haven’t felt it appropriate to butt in, but it does irritate me that he’s having fun without me.)
(As for Mao, it appears he’s not only planning to be the next student council president, but the next basketball club captain as well…)
(In juggling both his acceptance of these various roles and an effort to gain solid ground under his feet, he hasn’t been around very much.)
(And I wouldn’t want to ask someone who isn’t a member to come here so early in the morning. Seems I have no choice but to do my work here alone, quietly…)
(Ahh… It feels like it’s been some time since I experienced “solitude” like this.)
(Having silence as your only friend is no different from death, but it’s nice to enjoy such transient stillness on occasion.)
(However, it does feel a bit lonely to have to get down on my hands and knees just to wipe up the tea I so carelessly dumped on the floor.)
(You reap what you sow, as they say. How new and exciting… perhaps I’ll think of it that way, anyway.)
(Hmm, I wonder where the towels are.)
(Fufu. It seems this world is still so full of things I have yet to learn.)
Leo: Comin’ right iiiiin! Tenshi-kuuuun~ Let’s plaaaaay~☆
Eichi: …?!
...A-Ahh, you gave me a fright. I almost had a heart attack there, and it would be quite costly for you if you let me die, you know?
What could you want from me so early in the morning, Tsukinaga-kun?
Leo: Mm? Thy voice reaches the ears, yet having eyes, I see ye not! Is it a ghost? Did you finally turn into a ghost, Tenshi?! I dunno if that makes you a spirit now, or still an angel!
Eichi: “Finally”? Do I really seem like I’ll die so soon?
Well, first impressions are very strong, I suppose-- In your case, you probably think me rather weak and sickly, no?
However, if I think about it, “angel” is a crueler moniker than “demon”.
Falling into hell is an easy task, but reaching the heights of heaven is quite the ordeal for humans.
What a terrible nickname it is, forcing an unbearably heavy burden upon someone with its weight.
But well, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t glad to hear you call me that again after so long.
Just like Tsumugi… perhaps you all loved me more than I had thought.
Leo: Ah, found you! Whoa, Tenshi, why’re you kneeling on the ground like that? You okay?! Having an attack? Need an ambulance?
Eichi: No need for that. I just spilled some tea, you see.
Leo: Really? But are you really okay? Don’t push yourself, alright?
Eichi: ...Yes. If you could refrain from running over and needlessly shaking my shoulder like this, that would be appreciated.
Rather, since I’m not used to this sort of interaction, it makes me feel quite a bit worse.
But what about you, “Ousama-kun”? Are you doing alright? Acting like you’ve forgotten everything that happened, worrying over me just like a friend would… did you hit your head or something?
You even called me “Tenshi” again like you used to.
Leo: Hm? Oh yeah, now that you mention it, you’re right! You’re not my friend, you’re my worst enemy!
But forget about all that right now - help me, Tenshi! It’s all I’ll ever ask!
Eichi: H-Huh…? Whatever are you talking about?
Of course, I would like to help you as much as I can if you’d ask it of me. Though I’ll have to request compensation, I am always an ally of the students.
Well, perhaps I’ll undertake this task at the cost I reserve for friends. At this point in time, I’ve already wrung out so much from you that I feel reluctant to take any more.
Leo: Really? Thanks, Tenshi~! You really are a good guy, huh! I love you~☆
Eichi: H-hmm? Um, how do I put it? That’s quite bewildering…
Well, for now, could I ask you to stop this strange display of affection (?) of rubbing your head against my chest?
It seems to be an important matter, so why don’t we sit down and have a proper talk.
Leo: Alright! Sorry ‘bout this~ I mean, not that I really care, but you seem busy?
Eichi: I’m used to it. We’re about to graduate, after all. Peace has been quite the rarity these days, and that’s true for the both of us.
Just as no bird leaves its nest fouled, we have no choice but to desperately do what we can so that we leave with no regrets.
There are so many graduating students about to take off for the next step, and every one of us has been running to and fro these days. I shouldn’t be the only one acting like I’m entering a peaceful retirement - rather, the true test begins now.
Leo: Oh yeah, I heard you were hatching some kinda plot? I mentioned it once, and Sena pulled a face, you know~?
Eichi: ..You told him?
Leo: Huh? Uhh, I just said it sounded like you’re planning something! Wait, should I not have?
Sorry, sorry! I’m really bad at figuring out this kinda stuff ☆
Eichi: I don’t mind. But now it seems I shouldn’t ever talk about anything I don’t want to get around, as I suppose everyone, including Sena-kun, will eventually hear about it.
That’s if they plan to continue as idols in the future, anyway.
Though in Sena-kun’s case, it seems he wants to pause a portion of his idol activities and focus on his modeling career…
So I suppose he wouldn’t hear about things until much later…
Leo: ...Wait what, no way! I haven’t heard anything about this!
Damn that guy! And here he was going around like, “You’re not gonna quit being an idol, right?” and making all these scary faces!
Eichi: I’ve been thinking this for a while, but for some reason, you all often fail to tell the most important things to those closest to you…
Bonds can easily be broken. All the more you should remember to be considerate, precisely because such people are so important to you.
That’s one of the lessons I’ve learned during these three years at Yumenosaki Academy.
Now, let’s return to the topic at hand. But before we start our deep discussion, shall I make us some more tea? Though the leaves have fermented quite a bit, so it tastes more like blood than tea…
But for the “emperor” and the “king” who’ve caused the people so much suffering, perhaps that would be fitting?
