Area 2-4: The Pastry Conference
---

Ritsu: Now then, announcing the beginning of the official Pastry Conference. I, Ritsu, will be your host.
Arashi: And I'm your drop-dead gorgeous secretary, Arashi Narukami. Leave the notes to me.
Ritsu: The four of us will be in charge of confections. First off, we should make our goals clear.
Izumi: We're making sweets to lure out that Spiral. What other goal do we need?
Arashi: That, and we'll be selling what we make at this shop.
Before we get to that, though... How about we hear more about this place?
Ritsu: Oh yeah. Hansel seems really concerned about sticking to the business concept.
If we get the hang of that, we'll know exactly the kind of sweets we should be making.
Hansel: The business concept? Gretel always says she wants her cakes to be fashionably cute.
She's always admired the candy house that our master made, after all.
She cares about more than the flavor—she always makes sure her cakes are a treat for the eyes too. If we make our sweets like that...
Then we won't harm her reputation... I think.
Arashi: The cakes have to be cute, huh? I love it! Sweets these days are really all about the look, right?
Ritsu: That's your specialty, huh, Nacchan? Maybe we can leave the designing to you then, if we don't have any samples.
Hansel: Oh, good idea. I couldn't hope to replicate them with my skill, but if you could do it, that would help—in the way that's easiest for you, of course.
Arashi: You can show me a picture, if you like? As long as it gets the idea across, I can work with it.
Hansel: A picture... Now that you mention it, I think Gretel has drawings of her cake designs somewhere...
Ah, here they are. They come out differently on an actual cake, but this is the general idea.
Arashi: Wow, these are so adorable! Alright, yeah, I think I get the overall concept now.
Hansel: Can you make them like Gretel makes them?
Arashi: Leave it to me! I'm no Leo-kun, of course, but I'm feeling the inspiration bubbling up!
Hansel: Oh, I'm so glad to hear that... Now, Gretel's dream—
Izumi: Hey, can you give it a rest already?
Ritsu: Secchan. I must ask you to raise your hand if you want to comment.
Izumi: Come on, nobody raised their hands this whole meeting! Quit messing with me!
Ever since we started, it's been Gretel this, Gretel that. For Christ's sake.
Naru-kun, Kuma-kun, and I aren't Gretel, and neither are you.
It's not gonna go well if you keep thinking about how she would do things. Why don't you get it already?
Do you even have any ideals of your own that aren't just borrowed from somebody else?
Arashi: Izumi-chan! Would it bother you to word that a little more nicely?!
Sorry about that, Hansel-chan. Izumi-chan can be a bit of a stinker.
...But I get what he's saying, and I have to agree.
Hansel: ...He means I can't make cakes like Gretel does, right?
Arashi: That's not exactly it... More like, is there anything you've been wanting to try out, Hansel-chan? Why not give that a shot?
It's easy to piggyback on someone else's ideals, but when you hit a snag, you'll only end up lamenting the limits of your own skills.
But if it's for you, you won't break no matter how many times you fail.
The failures even work as hints to how you can improve, and then you'll have so many ideas that you won't even have time to give up!
Izumi: It's not all sunshine and rainbows, you know.
When you chase after your ideals, you run into roadblocks and frustrations all the time.
Still, it's true that you never feel like giving up anyway.
Hansel: (Something... I want to try out?)
(I've thought a few times about opening a cafe where I can serve tea to go with Gretel's cakes.)
(But Gretel's dream is the top priority right now, even if it means I end up putting more of a burden on her.)
There's no real point in trying to make my dream come true...
Arashi: How could you say there's no point to your own dreams?!
You have to be there to believe in and love yourself! It has to be you!
Ritsu: Okay now, everybody, let's simmer down.
So, Hansel, what is it you wanted to do?
We don't have to do it or anything, but it won't cost you a thing to say it out loud. So, what is it?
Hansel: I wanted... to try running a cafe.
Arashi: Oh, I love that! We have all the stuff we need for it already, so why not?
Hansel: But I'm not a professional. I don't know that much about tea, really...
Maybe Foliesilk-san would, though...

Foliesilk: I refuse.
My skills are for my master Alice, and Alice alone.
I haven't the faintest desire to serve tea to anyone else.
Hansel: I... see...
