Area 2-5: It's Your Life
--

Leo: Suooo~ I'm so bored~ Can I go out somewhere?
Mr. Gnome: Gloop~
Tsukasa: Waiting falls within our duties. Being a taste tester is a very harsh and demanding job.
However, we do have some other tasks to attend to as well. Until the desserts are ready, we should prepare for our concert.
Leo: A concert, huh... Guess we gotta get a venue first, yeah? Then we get some sound equipment. Oh, we need a setlist too.
Tsukasa: I'd thought this shop a fitting venue, but...
[Tsukasa dances around for a moment]
While the interior is exquisite, the building itself is a bit old. The creaks in the floor are particularly concerning.
It might be best to construct a temporary stage outside.
Charles: Were you dancing just now? That was sooo cool!
Mr. Gnome: Gloop gloop~
Charles: Ahaha! You're a great dancer too, Mr. Gnome!
Tsukasa: Are you perhaps interested in dancing? I can give you a short lesson if you so please.
Charles: Whoa...! Really?!
Tsukasa: (If this child can learn how Knights performs, then our name can remain in this world even after our departure.)
Once you have taken the lesson, you will be officially affiliated with Knights—that would make you an idol.
Together, we shall spread the name of Knights far and wide!
Leo: You can expand our influence all you want, but uh... once we leave, we won't exactly have a way to tell how it works out, will we?
Tsukasa: Knowing that Sena-senpai has now been here twice, the chance of us returning here as well is greater than zero.
For that very chance, we should do our utmost while we can.
Charles: An idol... But I want to become a knight and help Lil-san..
Tsukasa: As you might guess from our name, our main motif is knighthood.
Should you choose to learn about Knights, you might make some discoveries about the true spirit of chivalry.
Leo: Wahaha! Are any of us really that chivalrous? We look like a bunch of self-centered pricks to me!

Tsukasa: Shut up! Leo-san, I am trying to recruit someone here!
Charles: (whispering) The true spirit of chivalry... With that, I could become a fully-fledged knight...!
I shall take you up on those lessons, Tsukasa-san!
Would that be alright with you, Foliesilk-san?
Foliesilk: Certainly. I am only your master of the blade, after all.
To become a true knight, you must also enrich your spirit. The more knowledge, the better, I say.
Tsukasa: Now then, Leo-san, I'm afraid I shall be preoccupied raising the next generation of Knights. I shall leave the preparation for the concert in your capable hands.
[Tsukasa leaves with Charles]
Leo: Hey! Suo~ just shoved all the busy work on me! What a pain in the butt!
Hm... I can make a setlist any time of day, and we can just use our phones to play the music, so... I guess that leaves speakers and a venue.
Hey hatter guy, d'you know where a guy can get some speakers around here?
Foliesilk: I do not live in Wisebury myself. I do not know where most things are, let alone an establishment I would never visit.
Levi: If you're looking for a place that sells sound regalia, I know one!
Leo: Oh! Dunno what that is, but let's give it a look! Lead the way!
Wisebury: Downtown

Levi: Either way, Foliesilk-chan, that really surprised me. Never thought I'd see the day you refused a request from Hansel-chan.
Foliesilk: Is that so? He and I are total equals; neither is above the other in status.
I am perfectly within my right to refuse a request or two from him.
Leo: Really? But I thought you and Hansel were super tight!
Foliesilk: Well... I would not put it quite like that, but I do feel some form of friendship with him.
Levi: Then why not give him a hand with his cafe? You can think of it like a part-time job.
Foliesilk: ...I do admit that my knowledge and techniques when it comes to tea are greater than Hansel's.
However, if running a cafe is indeed his dream, I would rather he reach that goal with his own two hands.
[Flashback]
Hansel: You can't live off sweets alone. You don't even need them to live. But they can put a smile on your face.
That's the feeling we put into all our products.
I have to do this—especially now that there are no other pastry chefs in town.
[End flashback]
Foliesilk: Hansel cares for the smiles of others more than his own well-being.
That fact alone is reason enough for him to run the shop on his own.
I will be there, watching. I wish to see what happens, if his desire to run a cafe is indeed true.
I hope to see him realize his dreams with his own power.
That is why I cannot go so far as to do some of that work for him.
Levi: Then why not just tell him? You can't get your feelings across without saying them, you know.
Foliesilk: The sole reason for my creation was to fulfill the role my master has set for me. I cannot decide my future for myself.
However, Hansel is free to do as he pleases.
I'd thought, perhaps, I could have him do what I could not.
I could never force my wishes on him...
Hansel must be the one to decide the course of his own life.
Leo: ......

Regalia Workshop

Craftsman: So, this sound regalia can record and play sounds, but it's bigger and will take more space.
This small-sized sound regalia can't do any recording or playback, but it can pick up any noise and amplify it.
Levi: Which one do we want?
Leo: Mm... Do you have a smaller version of this small one?
Craftsman: I do, but that's gonna affect the sound quality. What size are you asking?
Leo: Like a headset—nah, maybe you don't know what that is... Uh, small enough to fit in one hand?
Craftsman: I'm afraid I don't have anything that tiny...
Levi: I see... I guess it's difficult to downsize technology.
Foliesilk: We should not ask for something beyond this shop's capabilities. Let us compromise with the wares on display already.
Craftsman: ...Wait right there. Whaddaya mean "beyond my capabilities"? "Compromise"? I can't let that slide.
Foliesilk: My, I did not intend to provoke you, but... can you create something that small?
Craftsman: Give me three days.
Foliesilk: Two. Hansel and the others will not take so long with their new products.
Craftsman: Tch... Fine. Two.
Leo: Gimme one of those big ones while we're at it!
Craftsman: Sure. Do with it what you will.
Leo: Cool! We've got both audio and mics down now!
Levi: Sorry to push you like this.
Craftsman: No bother! We don't see too many people use regalia for leisure these days, seeing as the city's still being restored.
Levi: You can send the bills to Arc End HQ.
Craftsman: Alright, wait a sec. I'll need your signature on a few documents.
Foliesilk: It may take some time for this transaction to complete... Levi, we shall carry out this large regalia while you're taking care of that.
Levi: Yeah, don't wait up for me! I'll catch up to you both later.

Wisebury: Downtown

Leo: Arrrrgh! My arms are gonna fall off! Shouldn't we leave this to Levi?
Foliesilk: It was your purchase. Now cease your complaints and move.
Leo: Whew... heave-ho...
...Hey, so about what we were talking about before we went shopping—
I kinda understand where you're coming from.
Foliesilk: Of all the things I imagined you'd say... I was not particularly looking for someone to understand me.
Leo: Everybody's got a whole universe of choices in front of them in life, right?
So it's terrifying to think your words could take out any of those possibilities and close doors on people's futures.
Words have power, you know. They can have an influence on someone's entire life. They can even be a curse sometimes.
Even worse when it's someone like Hansel who'll accept anyone's opinion, no matter who it is.
But your feeling of wanting him to choose his own path shows how much you care for him, like he's your own child.
Foliesilk: I did not raise him... but there may be some truth to what you say.
I can only watch him from afar. Any hand lent in aid, any shove too hard may hinder his growth.
For one day the dream shall end, and we shall disappear without a trace.
Leo: Life is full of goodbyes... Do you have a saying like that here too? [1]
Foliesilk: I wonder...
I'd thought you nothing more than an incomprehensible jester, yet I see you are surprisingly perceptive and thoughtful.
Leo: Wahaha! I'm speaking from experience, after all! Oh, and one more thing...
If you keep belittling him by thinking you gotta protect him from everything, then before you know it, he'll already be waaay ahead of you and leave you totally shocked!
Foliesilk: Oh...? I shall keep that in mind. I am not the type to be surprised at every little thing, however.
Leo: Huh, sometimes you sound like a totally different person...

Pâtisserie La Croûte

Leo: I'm baaaack and I got the concert audio covered! Tell me I did good!
Tsukasa: Welcome back, Leo-san. You have impeccable timing.
Foliesilk: Oh, this aroma... Has there been cake in the oven?
Tsukasa: Yes, and we are just about to taste it. Narukami-senpai and the others shall be bringing it over shortly.

Arashi: And here's what you've all been waiting for: La Croûte's latest confectionary creation!
Leo: Nice, I was just startin' to get hungry!
That sure is a fancy cake, though! A birthday cake, maybe? Happy birthday to somebody out there in the world!
Arashi: So, Hansel's little sister is really good at fruit cakes and sugar sculptures...
But working with sugar is super difficult, so I used cream and chocolate instead to give this cake the cute touch it needed.
Tsukasa: Marvelous! Like a work of art! I cannot wait to know how it tastes!
Izumi: It's Kuma-kun's recipe, so there's no way it can miss.
I made some low-carb sweets too. I didn't see any being sold here, so I figured there was a need for them.
Ritsu: Secchan suggested it because he's worried about Su~chan's weight~ Isn't that nice?
Izumi: Don't tell him that! Anyway, whether or not it'll actually be sold here depends on how it does in the taste test.
Tsukasa: Thank you for being so considerate, Sena-senpai. Now then, I shall fulfill my role as appointed taste tester!
...Delicious... I knew you could do it, my seniors. Every last confection is worth selling! I would gladly be one of your regular customers!
Here, Charles-kun, have some as well. Desserts are a sweet reprieve after a rigorous lesson.
Charles: I'd love some! Which one do you wanna try, Mr. Gnome?
Mr. Gnome: Gloop, gloop~♪
Foliesilk: It appears your tasting party is a success.
Hansel: Yeah, I'm really glad we can finally open up shop...
Foliesilk: ......
